Mercury 40ELHPT FourStroke

Mercury's 40ELHPT FourStroke is the power-trim version of the 40 horsepower tiller outboard, used condition, on a 20-inch shaft, and at 204 pounds dry it comes in noticeably lighter than the gas-assist 40ELH. Engine and electronics This inline-three four-stroke carries the bore and stroke of 2.56 by 2.95 inches, electronic fuel injection, and ECM 70 ignition, with a wet-sump lubrication system and a 2.00:1 gearcase tuned for this electric, power-trim setup. A Performance-Tuned Scroll Intake Manifold handles air induction, and an 18-amp, 226-watt alternator supports electric turn-key starting. Rather than the SmartCraft Engine Guardian used on some larger Mercury motors, this one relies on a simpler onboard warning system that watches for low oil pressure, over-rev, and overheat conditions. Steering and trim Steering combines the new advanced tiller with a remote option, and power trim and tilt replaces the gas-assist system found on simpler models in this line, both running through standard mechanical throttle and shift sold separately. A shallow water trim range of 20 degrees and an optional remote fuel tank round out the setup. Mercury calls for 87 octane fuel with up to 10 percent ethanol and Mercury FourStroke 25W-40 marine oil, and this unit carries Mercury's factory-backed coverage: a three-year standard warranty with an additional two-year Product Protection Gold plan layered on top.
