The Falcon Roller Slide targets Late Model race cars running on dirt or asphalt, and what sets it apart is a telescoping rear yoke giving 5-1/2 inches of driveline travel, letting the rear suspension move freely without the driveline inducing or limiting roll steer. What the Roller Slide design changes A lightweight aluminum case holds a floating input shaft alongside Falcon's familiar integral hydraulic clutch, with low and high gears of 2.40:1 and a direct 1:1 once rolling, rated to 600 lb-ft of torque. Falcon lists this version at approximately 43 pounds, slightly lighter than its fixed-output siblings, with 10 splines on the input side and 27 on the output side, the latter built right into the slip yoke. What ships with it Since the output yoke and its travel are molded into the case, Falcon ships this unit with the transmission, a heavy-duty stand at no added cost, the roller-slide yoke assembly, the internal clutch hardware, and its paperwork; bellhousing and shifter are picked up elsewhere. Q: Why does driveline travel matter for a Late Model? Letting the rear yoke telescope keeps the driveshaft from binding the suspension as it moves, which is what Falcon designed this unit to reduce, along with the related wear. Twelve months of coverage against material and workmanship defects comes with it, assuming normal racing use and a proper install.
