CT400 Sealed 604 Crate Engine, Dyno Tested, Race Ready

Chevrolet Performance credits this CT400 racing crate engine's Fast Burn aluminum heads and LS-style beehive valve springs for a 404-hp peak, with torque climbing to 406 lb-ft along the way. The horsepower figure shows up at 5,600 on the tach, torque a bit earlier at 4,600. A brand-new four-bolt-main block houses the bottom end. Induction and valvetrain Fast Burn chambers measuring 62cc hold intake valves sized at 2.000 inches and exhaust valves at 1.550, opened by a steel hydraulic roller camshaft through 1.5:1-ratio aluminum roller rockers; intake duration is 208 degrees against 221 on the exhaust, with .474 inch and .510 inch of lift to match. An open-plenum, single-plane aluminum intake manifold feeds the heads, and compression comes in at 9.72:1 nominal. Underneath, an 8-quart oil pan built strictly for circle track duty uses a dual kick-out sump design, paired with a breather kit on the valve covers. Fuel, rpm limits, and warranty Chevrolet Performance specifies premium pump fuel with 36 degrees of total ignition timing at 4,000 rpm and a maximum recommended speed of 5,800 rpm. No warranty rides along with this one; it is classified as a race engine, and Chevrolet/GM Performance's standard crate engine coverage explicitly excludes anything used for racing, stunt driving, performance testing, or other extreme operating conditions. Q: Does this engine carry a warranty? No. Because it is classified for racing use, Chevrolet Performance's standard crate engine coverage does not extend to it. Q: What is the maximum recommended rpm? 5,800 rpm, per Chevrolet Performance's specification for this combination.
